“I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand”
We often struggle to grab student’s attention from time to time- school tours and field trips are there to spark excitement to learn. With this thought on 13th of August, 2010 Delhi Public School organized a visit to Water Treatment Plant for class 5th students as the best way to help students to gain new perspectives and build skills for the future through experimental learning. Students left for Water Treatment Plant with great enthusiasm accompanied by the class teachers and trip in charges. After reaching there, students were taken to filtration units where huge quantity of water is filtered by using alum which absorbs all the impurities present in water. Students were then taken to the chamber II where soil free water is made ready to drink by using chlorine gas which is actually a disinfectant which purifies it and makes it bacteria free.
The concerned authorities and experts explained and showed to students everything which added to their knowledge of what Water Treatment Plant is? And how it benefits common people? Students were also taken to underground water reservoirs from where water is supplied for domestic purposes.
After gaining wonderful experience, children returned to school excitedly and were deeply learnt.
