DPS Budgam Provided a platform to around three hundred students representing different schools of the valley who participated in the 3rd Edition of the Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN) Conference held between 27 to 29 July 2018.
IIMUN is a student based youth organisation run by the students of 16 to 24 years of age with a presence in 160 cities across India and 22 countries globally. This is the only non-govt. organisation to conduct Model United Nations Conference as is conducted at UN Headquarters, New York/Geneva.
The Conference provided a broader spectrum to the students for analysis wherein, they got a chance to learn diplomacy, dialogue, public speaking and knowledge on International affairs through simulation of different UN Councils like UN Security Council and UN’s programmes relating to Women, Environment, Education, Scientific, Cultural, Economic and Social spheres.
It was a great honour and delight to see the students of the Valley wearing traditional, speaking, debating, cross-questioning and drawing solutions like UN delegates.
The chief guest at a session, Mr Bashir Ahmad Kakroo, a University of Illinois graduate, an advocate Of Kashmir Peace Movement spoke at length and enlightened the students.
The other guests of honour Ms Anna Bashir, Regional Officer South Asia University of Huddersfield and Sardar Nasir Ali Khan, famous RJ of Big FM in Kashmir also addressed the students. Moderators of simulating committee from the different states of India were also present on this occasion.
The Principal DPS Budgam Mr Mehfooz Aslam stressed the need for public speaking and personality development.
The organising committee including Mr Chaitanya, Mr Vatan and Mr Vatsal representing India International Model United Nations (IIMUN) Mumbai, thanked the DPS Budgam for conducting the Conference very successfully.
